Reliance BIG Pictures and Madras Talkies' RAAVAN has grossed Rs 53 crore at the box office in its opening weekend from Hindi (RAAVAN), Tamil (RAAVANAN) and Telugu (VILLAIN) versions all encompassing.
Abhishek and Aishwarya starrer ''Raavan'' has collected more than half a million dollar in its first weekend and has opened at number 15 on North America Box Office
Directed and co-written by Mani Ratnam, the movie collected USD 189,953 on Friday and got USD 189,422 on the box office yesterday.The total collection on the first weekend is USD 551,375 promoters of the movie said.
Good things first – Raavan is one of the best shot movies I have seen in a long time. Clearly makes cinematographer Santosh Sivan the biggest star and best performer in the film. Ironically such superb work only points out the rest of the shortcomings of the movie only more glaringly.
Aishwarya clearly steals the show and the hearts. Kudos to her for going through all the physically strenuous action!
Mani Ratnam's highly anticipated take on the epic story of the Ramayana, aptly named, Raavanan (in it's Tamil incarnation), was satisfying and has many points to ponder.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's portrayal of Ragini is an amazing balance of grace, beauty and a little hot-headedness. Her eyes seemed to be her most-focused-on feature, but they conveyed her emotions most effectively; be it anger, anguish or confusion. Despite wearing minimal makeup, she still looked gorgeous!
